Cockroach Control in Mumbai

Why do Mumbai homes get so many cockroaches?

Two kinds cause most of the trouble. Small brown German cockroaches live inside the kitchen: in cabinet hinges, behind the fridge, inside switchboards and under the sink. Big reddish American cockroaches come up from bathroom drains, gully traps and the building's shafts.

Mumbai's humid air, especially from June to September, and the shared drainage lines in older buildings and chawls give them water and warmth all year. Cleaning alone rarely fixes it, because they breed in gaps you can't reach.

How do we treat cockroaches?

• We check the kitchen, bathrooms, drain points, the area under the sink and the space behind appliances.
• We put small drops of herbal, odourless gel in hinges, corners, cracks and pipe gaps, where cockroaches hide and travel.
• Cockroaches eat the gel and take it back to their hiding places, so it also reaches the ones you never see.
• Nothing is sprayed over your stove, counter or utensils.

Signs you need cockroach control

• Cockroaches running off when you switch on the kitchen light at night.
• Tiny black droppings, like ground pepper, in drawers and cabinet corners.
• Brown, bean-shaped egg cases behind the fridge or in cupboard hinges.
• An oily, musty smell inside closed cabinets.
• Big cockroaches coming out of bathroom drains, especially after rain.
